Transforming Scotland’s Justice System

Scotland's Justice System

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused extensive disruption within our justice system. Despite restrictions easing, the adverse effects are likely to be felt for years to come – from victims and community justice services to prisons and courts, where the backlog of solemn cases is not expected to be cleared until 2025. However, the past two years have also demonstrated how resilient and responsive the system can be with the adoption of new working methods across the board.

Following publication of the Scottish Government’s Vision for Justice in Scotland last month, and with a new Community Justice Strategy due to be published in Spring 2022, now is the time to think about what we truly want our justice system to look like and how we can transform it for the better.

This event was the ideal opportunity to have these discussions, bringing together stakeholders from across the public and third sectors and those with lived experience.

This event is CPD certified in principle
