Recognised in the PrivSec200 for her contribution to the privacy sector, Mairead has a wealth of experience in data ranging from statistical research through to information assurance. During her time in Scottish Government, she helped establish national governance frameworks to support data linkage across different sectors including health, energy, education and justice for research and statistical purposes, supporting delivery of the Scottish Informatics and Linkage Collaboration (SILC), a partnership with the ADRC, Farr Institute and Urban Big Data Centre. She was involved in negotiating data sharing to support the devolution of social security powers, championing data protection by design, directing the Bill Team on information sharing and developing a Data Strategy for the Programme. A privacy advocate, Mairead is the Head of Service for HEFESTIS’ unique DPO-share offering. She and her team of DPO’s work with HEFESTIS CISO, O365 and Change-share services to provide expert advice to their members across the UK Further and Higher Education sector.
