Benjamin began his career as a Local Authority Social Worker, working in a number of locations throughout the UK and laterally worked as a Senior Social Worker in Edinburgh. He left the local authority to take up an opportunity to manage the expansion of the ChildLine Helpline service in Scotland. After 20 months in post, he was offered a secondment to lead the implementation of ChildLines national business development and improvement strategy, after which he took on management responsibility for the implementation of their innovative ChildLine Schools Service across Scotland. In 2013 he was head-hunted for the position of Head of Service Development with Capability Scotland, before taking up his current post as Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Edinburgh (CAE) in April 2016.
In addition to his professional employment, Benjamin is the Chairperson on the Board of Directors for the Health Opportunities Team in Edinburgh. This is a charitable organisation providing counselling and therapeutic support to young people in some of the most disadvantaged areas of Edinburgh.
