In his current post as Chief Planning & Housing Officer at Scottish Borders Council, Ian Aikman manages the Council’s planning, building standards, housing, roads planning and built and natural environment services. He has over 35 years’ experience in public sector planning in both Scotland and England, having previously worked at Moray District Council and Dover District Council.
Ian is the Chair of the Heads of Planning Scotland (HoPS) for 2023/24 and has been Vice Chair of the sub-committee on Climate Change, Energy and Resources. He was elected to the Executive Committee of HoPS in 2019.
