I have completed 23 years police service, with my career spanning across numerous frontline operational policing duties, working in collaboration with community partners, addressing the concerns and needs of residents. I worked at a National level as the Operational Inspector for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention working with global and national partners, health and social care, emergency services and 3rd sector colleagues to improve the journey of people in our communities in periods of distress or mental health crisis.
I was temporarily promoted as Partnerships Chief Inspector for Greater Glasgow division incorporating my knowledge and learning from my national and operational roles adapting these into this local policing role. I worked collaboratively with partners, leading and empowering them to consider innovative ideas to gain trust and build rapport with our communities to ensure their voices were heard whilst driving forward the public health approach to policing.
I returned to the national role of Inspector in the Equalities, Diversion and Inclusion team developing policies and procedures to provide an equitable service around Scotland ensuring local policing practices are non-discriminatory.
I have recently returned to the national Mental Health and Suicide Prevention team taking on the role of Acting Chief Inspector providing policy advice and inspiring closer working relationships between police and health professionals to deliver a better service for the public, ensuring vulnerable people receive the compassion, help and support they need and deserve from those best able to provide it. I am delighted and honoured to attend today’s event and look forward to developing networking opportunities.
