Jill trained as a journalist and started her career working in newspapers, radio and television across Scotland. She spent more than a decade living in Liverpool and leading the marketing and communications function for The Riverside Group, one of the country’s largest housing associations. Returning to Scotland she joined Education Scotland within the Scottish Government, where one day she was asked to handle an FOI appeal … She has now been Head of the FOI Unit for almost two years, and at the centre of the organisation-wide initiative which has seen an increase in FOI response rates to 97%.
