Jim Brown is the Director of ESP, a collaboration of Scotland’s colleges established in 2011 to provide the link between industry, government and its agencies working to support colleges in the development and delivery of programmes to meet industry’s skills needs with a focus on Energy, Engineering, Construction and Emerging Technologies.
An extensive career in the college sector he is a member of a wide range of government, industry and college sector groups and has been instrumental in establishing the group structures and training networks that underpin ESP.
He also worked with two Sector Skills Councils during which time he was also seconded into Scottish Government to develop their Renewable Energy Skills Framework for Action and is the Skills Lead for the Scottish Offshore Wind Energy Council (SOWEC). Jim also sits on the Scottish Government’s STEM Strategy External Advisory Group and STEM Partnership Steering Group.
