Jenny Young read Modern and Medieval Languages at the University of Cambridge then trained to be a secondary school teacher at the University of Edinburgh. She taught in West Lothian schools for half a decade before leaving teaching to work as a researcher, then advisor to Michael Marra MSP. Jenny was elected to the Scottish Parliament in May 2026 as a Scottish Labour MSP for Central Scotland and Lothians West.
