Carol Wade

As Information Governance Manager/Data Protection Officer for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), I lead the development and delivery of the organisations Information Governance framework and strategy, ensuring information is managed securely, effectively, and in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. As the principal advisor on information governance, governance risk management., and compliance matters, I provide strategic leadership across Data Protection, Information Security, Records Management, Freedom of Information, and Confidentiality. My role focuses on embedding a strong culture of governance, risk management, and accountability while supporting organisational resilience and informed decision-making.

I am passionate about helping people understand the value of information as a strategic asset and work closely with colleagues across the organisation to raise awareness, build capability, and drive continuous improvement. Through strong critical thinking, collaboration, and sound judgement, I support the delivery of SFRSs strategic objectives while ensuring the organisation meets the highest standards of governance and public trust. I believe effective information governance is not simply about compliance. It is about enabling better decisions, reducing risk, sharing knowledge, and helping the organisation deliver outstanding services to the communities it serves.
