Cllr. John Alexander

Councillor John Alexander is the Leader of Dundee City Council & Chair of the Scottish Cities Alliance (SCA) He was elected to office at the age of 23 in 2012 and since 2017, has led Dundee City Council and the SCA. He remains the youngest council leader in Scotland. The work of the Scottish Cities Alliance is focussed on collaboration and shared ambition. The SCA is a unique collaboration of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth & Stirling in partnership with the Scottish Government. The Alliance is focussed on sustainability, economic development and promoting investment opportunities across the cities. In addition to leading work to regenerate and reinvigorate the city of Dundee, John is also involved with national work focussed on creating vibrant cities and building a resilient and prosperous post-covid economy. He currently sits on the Scottish Government-led City Centre Recovery Taskforce and Advisory Council for Economic Transformation.
