With Star full time since 1999, and several summer placements before this, Dave has enjoyed various roles from designing icerinks to chilling tubs of mashed potato, heating chocolate, and heating towns using heat extracted from Norwegian fjords. More recently Dave supported the Scottish Government decarbheat work with a now deployed concept of heat from the Clyde. The most recent role sees Dave responsible for Group sustainability which as well as the internal impacts, includes helping heating and cooling clients use their data to understand and optimse their plant better. Dave has a Mechanical Engineering Degree and MBA from the University of Strathclyde and also sits as Chair of Ceed-Scotland since 2017. CeeD brings over 160 Scottish businesses and academic institutions together to share and deliver best practices to enhance the wider prospects of TeamScotland.
