Doug Forbes is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Dundee. He is also Director of the University spin-out company Whole Life Consultants Ltd, a Chartered Civil Engineering and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. His areas of expertise lie in skills and employment forecasting, labour productivity in construction, whole life costing. project and risk management. His PhD examined the risks associated with the sustainability assessment of housing.
He has extensive experience in managing development, research, and consultancy projects. Since 2008, Doug has been responsible for developing the CITB Labour Forecasting Tool (LFT) which has been used to estimate the labour demand for more than 25 LEPs, local areas and major projects including HS2. Most recently he has led the development of the tool to forecast labour demand associated with low carbon retrofit.
