Dr Mairi Hope

Mairi originally qualified in BSc Hons Microbiology from Glasgow University in 2000 and subsequently undertook a PhD in the role of the gut microbiota in colorectal cancer at Aberdeen University. During her PhD she developed an interest in clinical research, which led to the study of medicine as a graduate student at Aberdeen University. She graduated in 2010 and qualified as a GP in 2015. She has worked in Aberdeen city practices and has been the principal GP working in the city’s homeless practice since 2020. She has a specialist interest in substance use and preventative health care in people who use drugs.
