Dr. Peter Cairns

Peter has worked as a GP in Edinburgh for many years with clinical interests that include Substance Misuse, Health Inequalities and Community Link working. He is a Clinical Advisor to NHS Lothian Digital Directorate. He is Clinician Representative for GP IT for RCGP Scotland, advocating for better digital tools for frontline services. He is very committed to improving Primary Care data, including working with Dataloch (the SE Scotland regional repository of linked Health & Social Care Data) as well as the sustainable development of ‘Digital First’ approaches in General Practice.  He maintains a somewhat niche & occasional blog about “Primary Care, Data, Communities & People”  (primarycarecrunch.wordpress.com).
