Dr Peter Rice Headshot
I graduated from University of Glasgow Medical School in 1981 and worked as NHS Consultant Psychiatrist in NHS Tayside Alcohol Problems Service from 1990-2013. I am interested in whole system approaches to prevention and treatment, and involvement in policy work was a natural extension to my clinical role. In response to the alarming increases in alcohol related harm in Scotland, I helped establish Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) in 2006. In my role both as Chair of SHAAP and subsequently, I have been involved in various elements of alcohol policy in Scotland, the UK and internationally.
