Dr Shirley Cavin is an experienced leader with extensive technical and business knowledge in Data, AI/ML, automation, and other applied technologies within multi-cloud and hybrid environments. Dr Cavin is the Head of Data & AI Accelerator at Leidos UK, serving various programmes and customers in National Security and Defence, Intelligence, Civil and Logistics sectors in the UK and around the world.
Over the past 20 years, Dr Cavin has worked and led several critical IT-related projects, and has managed and mentor technical teams and staff, while continuing her passion for research and development within the science, engineering and IT themes. Dr Cavin is a SWiT member and the award winner of the UK “Outstanding Woman in Tech” Employers Awards 2023 and has various industrial and research recognitions due to her active role in businesses, and the scientific and engineering community.
Dr Cavin holds a BSc (Hons) in Computer Sciences & Engineering, MSc and PhD in Advanced Manufacturing and Operations Management from The University of Nottingham, Harvard Leadership Business Certification, and other technical and business qualifications, and as a STEM ambassador participates and collaborates in various community activities encouraging young people into the disciplines of data, sciences and engineering.
