George Adam MSP

George Adam was born in Elderslie in 1969. Despite a challenging childhood, his early interest in politics led him to join the Scottish National Party (SNP) at the age of 17. Before entering public life, he built a successful career as a Corporate Sales Manager in the motor industry.

In 2007, George was elected as a councillor for the Paisley South Ward on Renfrewshire Council. When Paisley became a Scottish Parliament constituency, he stood for election and was first elected as Paisley’s MSP in 2011—a position he has proudly held since. Over the years, George has held several key roles in Parliament. He served on multiple committees, acted as Parliamentary Liaison Officer to the Education Secretary, and was SNP Chief Whip in 2018. From 2021 to 2024, he served in the Scottish Government as Minister for Parliamentary Business, responsible for steering government legislation and working closely with parliamentary colleagues.

A proud Paisley Buddie, George has worked to bring investment and opportunity to his hometown, including the redevelopment of the historic Russell Institute into a Skills and Employability Hub. A lifelong St Mirren supporter, he helped lead the successful fan takeover of the football club in 2016.

George is married to Stacey Adam, who lives with multiple sclerosis. Together, they are passionate advocates for disability rights.
