Heather joined Salix 3 years ago and manages the Scotland programme. Salix are a non-departmental public body funded by BEIS, Scottish and Welsh Governments, providing Government funding to the public sector to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and lower energy bills. Heather’s role involves leading the team to build relationships and facilitate the uptake of funding, enabling energy efficiency projects across the Scottish public sector.
A key part of Heather’s work is to engage and collaborate with National Government, Stakeholders and public sector clients to turn the policy on net-zero and climate emergency into tangible projects that help schools, local authorities and universities to decarbonise their estates and reduce energy spend.
Due to the current pressure on public health and the global climate emergency, securing a green recovery is a key focus of the Salix strategy. Heather’s vision for the team is to align the support we can offer to ensure the public sector can provide stable employment and service to the community whilst prioritising net-zero ambitions.
Heather holds an MSc from the University of Manchester in Environmental Governance and prior to working at Salix worked in Sustainability Engagement at the University of London.
