Jarmo Eskelinen is a smart cities and open data expert with background in architecture and digital media, in charge of the Data-Driven Innovation (DDI) initiative at the University of Edinburgh. The 15-year, £660m DDI spans across ten industry domains from creative industries and healthcare to fintech and robotics. He is also an non-executive director of the Open Knowledge Foundation, and a member of the Smart London Board.
Jarmo has been working in the domain of open and shared public data since 2009, as the Chief Innovation and Technology Officer of the Future Cities Catapult, CEO of Forum Virium Helsinki, urban innovation lab of the City of Helsinki, and one of the founders of Open & Agile Smart Cities network. Jarmo loves cycling in cities, and as an ex-DJ still buys more vinyl records than he has time to listen to.
