John Lamont MP

John Lamont was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Scotland Office on 27 October 2022.

John is the Scottish Conservative MP for Berwickshire, Roxburgh & Selkirk. Before being appointed as a Minister, he was a member of the Scottish Affairs Committee.

Prior to that, John had been an MSP in the Scottish Borders since May 2007. When in the Scottish Parliament he was Convener of the Justice Committee and was also Chief Whip for the Scottish Conservatives.

Before getting elected, John studied law at the University of Glasgow and then worked as a solicitor for a number of years. He is the son of a Berwickshire farmer and former local teacher and lives in Coldstream.
