
Josh works with operational land managers to trial, develop and adopt new technologies to manage forests better and more sustainably. He works with entrepreneurs, inventors and private business to adapt technologies from across industries and international contexts to meet the needs of UK forestry. Josh’s core areas of expertise lie in forest nurseries, wildlife management and remote sensing, with a strong focus on practical, field-ready innovation.
Prior to joining FLS he served as a policy advisor to the Scottish Government on how Scotland’s forests can contribute to inclusive economic growth. A Chartered Forester, Josh holds a master’s degree in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem management. He is recognised for bridging the gap between strategic vision and practical detail through applied innovation, with a characteristically enthusiastic, driven and inclusive approach.
