Dr Marie Macklin CBE

Dr Marie Macklin CBE is a businesswoman, investor and motivational speaker.
Her many career highlights include introducing the WM Morrisons Supermarket
PLC brand to Scotland by spearheading a £100M regeneration project in her
hometown of Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, thereby enabling Morrisons to open its first
store north of the border in 2004, prior to the Safeway buyout.

Marie is also the founder and executive chair at HALO Urban Regeneration Co and
Macklin Enterprise Partnerships (MEP). The HALO brand is an international brand at
the forefront of creating sustainable low carbon developments on brownfield sites in
former industrial heartlands, delivering employment opportunities in economically
challenged areas. MEP invests in newco and scale-up companies.

Through her philanthropic special projects arm, Marie is an advocate and supporter
of various causes including women’s health, enterprise, education and sustainability
with a focus on regeneration. In 2014, she was Awarded a CBE in the Queens New
Year’s Honours List for Services to Economic Regeneration and Entrepreneurship in
Scotland
