Professor Scott Arthur is a civil engineer by profession, and represents the Colinton, Oxgangs and Fairmilehead Ward. He became Edinburgh’s Transport & Environment Convener after the May 2022 election brought to power a minority Labour administration.
In February 2023 he will publish transport plans to help Edinburgh reach net zero by 2030 with a 30% reduction in car journeys. The proposed £3bn transition over 10 years will include more bus and cycle lanes and wider footpaths, as well as further tram extensions.
