
Rishma is jointly responsible, with her co-lead Fatim Lakha, for the strategic leadership and coordination of the clinical, public health intelligence and research function within PHS, ensuring alignment with national priorities and strategy. She provides senior leadership across the organisation’s intelligence, surveillance, and research capabilities, supporting evidence-informed public health action. In addition to her interim role, Rishma leads the Equity and Justice cross-organisation programme and on Health Improvement, with a focus on justice. She also holds a joint appointment with NHS Fife. Rishma is a qualified consultant in Public Health Medicine with 15 years of experience working on domestic and international public health issues. She is also a senior honorary clinical lecturer with the University of St Andrews and has been recently appointed a Research, Innovation and Knowledge champion in NHS Fife.
