Sarah Boyd

As Lothian’s Managing Director, Sarah Boyd leads the organisation working closely with the company’s senior team to deliver strategy, direction, and leadership.   Enthused by public transport and with over 20 years in the bus industry, Sarah joined Lothian in 2013 as Head of Operations, became Operations Director in February 2017, and Managing Director in August 2022. Sarah believes that people are at the heart of transport and it is under her leadership that Lothian strive to deliver a people centric world-class, sustainable public transport service for Edinburgh and the Lothians. In her wider commitment to sustainability Sarah’s stewardship will lead Lothian in the development of an ambitious strategy which incorporates plans for all routes, vehicles and depot infrastructure to achieve Net Zero. Currently Scottish Vice Chair of the Confederation of Passenger Transport, Sarah is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport. In 2023, Sarah chaired the Driver Shortage Sub-Group of the Bus Taskforce created to assist the bus industry overcome an unprecedented recruitment challenge. Sarah is passionate about the role Lothian plays within the communities it serves and is proud to lead a diverse, inclusive and progressive people led culture that is at the forefront of evolving technologies and practices within the bus industry’s movement towards zero-emission travel.
