Holyrood’s 2024 Climate Action Awards are open for nominations!    

Holyrood’s Climate Action Awards are back for 2024, with new categories and a new, more accessible format. The Awards offer a fantastic opportunity to get together with colleagues and clients to celebrate the excellent work taking place within Scotland’s climate change movement. Nominations are welcomed from the public and third sector, academia and their private sector suppliers. It’s free to enter, and making a submission is easy.

*The deadline for nominations has been extended to midnight of Wednesday 31 July 2024!*

Climate Collaboration Award 

This award celebrates a successful climate collaboration between the public sector and private or third sector. Projects of all sizes are welcome, and the judges are looking for evidence of how collaboration with the private or third sector has had demonstrable results in Scotland’s journey to Net Zero. 

Technology and Innovation Award

Technology plays an important role in helping organisations decarbonise. This award recognises an individual, team or organisation that has demonstrated innovative use of technology in ways that improve sustainability and reduce emissions. Tech companies can enter where they have partnered with the public or third sector or academia.  

Net Zero Nature Award  

This award celebrates nature-focused projects, organisations or groups who can clearly demonstrate how they are delivering for net zero. 

Climate Campaign of the Year Award  

This award recognises a significant activist, media, or press campaign that has successfully raised awareness of (or changed perceptions around) the climate emergency. 

Climate Community Award 

This award celebrates a town, village, community or place in Scotland for the efforts they have made to tackle climate change.

Young Climate Champion Award  

Focusing on the work of both individuals and groups of young people in galvanizing the climate change movement in Scotland, this award recognises and promotes young people (under the age of 35) who have made a significant contribution to Scotland's journey to net zero.  

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises an individual who has made a significant contribution to Scotland’s climate change movement over a sustained period. This award is at the judge's discretion.

Nominations should be submitted via the button on this page. Submissions should contain the following information: 

 

- Project details (500 words)

 

- Measurable benefits (500 words)

 

-Supporting items (video, images, testimonial) if applicable 

 

Nominations must show a demonstrable benefit to Scotland’s climate action goals. We encourage applicants to include as much evidence as possible to help our judging panel in their scoring process. This could include examples from impact assessments, citations from client feedback, links to press or media coverage, or findings from any internal progress reports.  

 

You can enter the same project for multiple categories providing your nomination submission is tailored to fit the requirements of each one individually.

 

Due to the high volume of submissions, we are not able to guarantee feedback on unsuccessful nominations.

Unless stated otherwise in the category description, entries are welcomed from any Scotland-based individuals, groups or teams who can display a strong commitment to climate action in their work. We welcome applications from across the public, private and third sector, including from both Scottish government and Scottish local authorities.  

 

The Young Climate Champion Award is open to young people under the age of 35.

 

The Lifetime Achievement Award is at the judge's discretion, if you would like to send a suggestion, please email lizzie.kelly@holyrood.com.

 

Where a project or initiative is entered, the project should have been live with 12 months of the nomination being made.  

 
Shortlisted Nominations: 

 

The shortlist will be announced in mid August and those who reach the shortlist will receive two (free of charge) invitations to attend the awards ceremony taking place on 1 October 2024 at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh.
