Holyrood COP26 Green Giant Awards

The Holyrood Green Giant Awards and Ceilidh, held on the final evening of the Holyrood COP26 Fringe Festival, will be the closing event of four days of best practice shared and ideas discussed around how we tackle the climate emergency. The evening will celebrate excellence within the climate change movement in Scotland across the public, private and third sectors.

Held in the heart of Glasgow, Holyrood’s COP26 festival will focus on four themes: Diversity and Inclusion in Climate Change Discussions and Decisions; Climate Change and Technology & Innovation; Nature and The Environment and Scotland’s Role in Delivering a Net-Zero World.

The Holyrood COP26 Green Giant Awards offer the opportunity to celebrate outstanding achievements within Scotland’s climate change movement and give welcome recognition to the work that goes on to support Scotland’s journey to a Just Transition and Net Zero future.

Holyrood Communications’ Climate Emergency Series

Holyrood’s Climate Emergency Series – spanning magazine supplements, podcasts, online content and events – will run in the lead-up to, during COP26 and after. The series will engage decision makers and other stakeholders in discussions about how Scotland can secure a net-zero future through a more inclusive and sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.

Events in the series include:
• Green Recovery Summit
• Decarbonising Scotland
• Renewable Energy Summit
• Circular Economy Forum
• Just Transition and Net Zero Forum (Upcoming 15 December 2021)

Climate Emergency Series

Diversity and Inclusion Award - in partnership with Scottish Widows

This award recognises an individual, team, group or network initiating and leading action to remove barriers and improve the working experience, engagement and representation levels of minority or marginalised groups in climate justice spaces. Or demonstrating excellence in the delivery of services to minority or marginalised groups in climate justice spaces.

Technology and Innovation Award - in partnership with Chivas/Pernod Ricard

This award recognises an individual, team or organisation that has demonstrated outstanding work in capitalising on Scotland’s potential in climate technology by using technology to deliver services in ways that improve sustainability and reduce emissions or develop potential solutions to the effects of the climate emergency.

Nature and the Environment Award

This award recognises the stellar work being done to protect and enhance our natural capital and biodiversity.

Scotland’s Champion Award in partnership with Coca-Cola Europacific Partners

This award is open to anyone who has demonstrated a significant contribution to Climate Justice in Scotland or from Scotland to the world. This includes being an exemplar of Scotland’s world-leading net-zero climate agenda or making a substantial contribution and leading the way in facilitating a just transition for industries or communities to a zero-emissions future as the Commission’s final recommendations are published.

Youth Champion Award in partnership with IKEA

This award recognises the work of young people in galvanizing the climate change movement in Scotland. This award will recognise and promote young people who have made a significant contribution to Climate Justice and to the inclusion of Climate Justice in education.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award will recognise and promote individuals who have made a significant contribution to Climate Justice over a sustained period of time.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be award to an individual who has:

- An established history of distinguished service

- Made a lasting contribution to climate justice

- Exhibited leadership and provided inspiration to others in the Sector

- Earned recognition by other industry, training, education or employer groups

- Gained the respect of their professional peers

This award will be chosen by our judging panel and will not be open for nominations.
