Holyrood’s annual Politics Explained conference launched in 2007. Since then, we have been helping inform the public sector about Scottish politics so they may engage with our political institutions.
The COVID-19 outbreak put the Scottish Government’s work front and centre in the lives of every person in Scotland. This is a vital time for devolution, and with the party manifestos about to be written for next year’s Scottish Parliamentary election, our position at the heart of Scottish political life made Politics Explained a unique opportunity to engage with decision makers.
Delegates learnt key ways to engage with the Scottish political system; gained an understanding of successful communications and media engagement campaigns; and learnt how to lobby and influence.
The event was set over two days, with the first day dedicated to how the Scottish Parliament works and the second day focused on the Scottish Government and how best to navigate it. Delegates had the opportunity to network with MSPs and civil servants.
