Myths and Opportunities: The Future of Public Sector Cyber Security in Northern Ireland

First of all, why is Cyber Security so important? The NI Cyber Security Centre explains, “Smartphones, computers and the internet are now such a fundamental part of modern life, that it’s difficult to imagine how we’d function without them. From online banking and shopping to email and social media, it’s more important than ever to take steps to prevent cyber criminals from getting hold of our accounts, data, and devices.”

In 2020 we entered the final year of Cyber Security: A Strategic Framework for Action where there was still a lack of knowledge about the benefits cloud services can bring when used effectively, and myths relating to cloud security that could deter users.

Experts from the Northern Ireland Cyber Security Centre, Department of Finance NI and Amazon Web Services got together to explore these issues for our Myths and Opportunities: The Future of Public Sector Cyber Security Northern Ireland webinar on 30 September 2020.

The webinar, now available on-demand, provides an overview of public sector cyber security in Northern Ireland, addressing both the myths and potential benefits of using cloud services.
