Dr Sanaz Kavianpour
Lecturer in Cybersecurity
Dr Sanaz Kavianpour is a Lecturer in Cybersecurity within the Department of Cybersecurity and Computing, in the Faculty of Design, Informatics, and Business at Abertay University. Since 2023, she has been the Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Cybersecurity at Abertay University. Sanaz received a BSc degree in Computer Engineering Software from Allameh Mohaddes Nouri University, Iran (2007), an MSc in Computer Science (Information Security) from the University of Technology Malaysia (2011), and a PhD in Computer Science (specialisation in Cybersecurity) from the University of Technology Malaysia (2017). From 2018 to 2019, she worked as an Application Developer at SOHA Company in Cyberjaya, Malaysia before securing a permanent lecturer position in Cybersecurity at Abertay. Sanaz's teaching portfolio includes Cybersecurity, Programming, and the Application of Machine Learning in Cybersecurity. Her research focuses on Information, Application, and System Security; Threat Modelling; Cyber-Physical Systems, and the Internet of Things (IoT) Security.
Ian Farquhar

Information security technologies and practices have been the cornerstone of Ian's career for 35 years. Starting in academia, where he implemented and manage a major university's first connection to the Internet in the late 80s, Ian has been at the leading edge of security in enterprise, government and service providers. He has worked for companies including RSA, Cisco, Sun Microsystems, Silicon Graphics and Cray Research. Ian has consulted and evaluated security architecture in major international banks and national telcos, as well as contributed to standards, including being involved in some of the very early R&D around wireless networking. At Gigamon he is responsible for mapping the company's strategic planning to the needs of government and high-exposure customers, including a very strong focus on zero trust architectures, notably with the US Government. Ian also leads Gigamon's Product Security and Incident Response Team, ensuring Gigamon's compliance with the myriad of security requirements our customers demand.
