Public Sector Cyber Security Republic of Ireland 2026

As cyber threats evolve in scale and complexity, public sector organisations across the Republic of Ireland face growing pressure to enhance their cyber resilience, manage risk, and protect citizen data.

Building on the success of Holyrood’s inaugural Public Sector Cyber Security Republic of Ireland event last year, the 2026 event will bring together public and third sector leaders and cybersecurity experts for a day of learning, discussion and networking.

Taking place in Dublin, this in-person conference will explore how Ireland’s public and third sectors can respond to emerging cyber challenges and foster collaboration.

Attendees will benefit from keynote presentations, panel discussions, practical case studies, and dedicated networking opportunities.

Key themes include:

  • Using technology safely and effectively in the public sector
  • Building a cross-border approach to cyber resilience
  • Regulation and policy alignment
  • Addressing skills gaps and retaining talent
  • Enhancing procurement processes

Attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy an exhibition area and connect with peers during dedicated networking sessions.

In the recently launched Digital and AI strategy, the Irish Government set out a goal that 100 per cent of key public services will be digitalised by 2030, with 90 per cent of those services consumed online.

This goal was complemented by an announcement that the government would take steps to foster a proactive compliance culture, build cyber security capacity, and engage effectively at national and international level on cyber security issues.

But what do these goals mean in the real world?

Speakers will discuss the goals laid out by the government, what they mean for the public services involved and what cyber security risks may be on the horizon for a digital Ireland.

From data exposure and model manipulation to supply‑chain vulnerabilities and the automation of cyber threats, securing AI usage across public services is a critical issue.

As outlined in the National Digital and AI Strategy, the NCSC will publish updated Cyber Security Guidance for Public Service Use of AI in 2026, building on existing frameworks, to support the procurement and secure adoption of AI by public bodies.

Speakers will discuss this guidance and the significant opportunities to improve efficiency, decision‑making and citizen outcomes that AI offers; while also managing the new risks it poses to public services across Ireland.

Reactive responses alone are not sufficient to protect society and the economy from the potential cascading effects of cyber-attacks on critical systems and services.

As cyber risks continue evolving rapidly, critical infrastructure, government systems, society as a whole faces growing exposure to disruptive attacks that could impact the lives of millions.

Speakers will discuss how Ireland’s public services can adopt a proactive cyber defence posture, where reaction is replaced by robust, reliable cybersecurity systems.
