Upskilling, Reskilling and the Young Person’s Guarantee

Young Person's Guarantee 2021 Event Image

With a keynote address from Jamie Hepburn MSP, Minister for Higher Education and Further Education, Youth Employment and Training at the Scottish Government

The Young Person’s Guarantee was launched in November 2020 by the Scottish Government with the intention that within two years, every person aged between 16 and 24 would have the opportunity to study, volunteer or take up an apprenticeship, job or work experience.

One year on, this event will offer interested stakeholders the chance to assess the implementation of the Young Person’s Guarantee in relation to its intended outcomes and discuss what more needs to be done in its second year.

However, the pandemic has not only restricted opportunities for young people to develop their skills. It has led to redundancies, prolonged periods of furlough and uncertainty about the viability of certain sectors. Sessions will, therefore, also explore how we can support those looking to upskill or reskill and, more widely, how we can better align our skills and education sector with our economic and environmental priorities
