Scotland Excel Supplier Excellence Awards 2023
11 May 2023 | Radisson Blu Glasgow

#SupplierExcellence2023

*Deadline for nominations 28 February 2023*

Scotland Excel has been at the forefront of public procurement for almost fifteen years, championing its power as an effective driver for local and national economic growth and wellbeing. Our services are designed to help our local authority and associate members deliver sustainable public services and realise a host of social, economic and environmental benefits for their communities.

In 2015, we launched the first-ever awards programme dedicated to celebrating the critical role that suppliers play in public procurement. Since then, the Scotland Excel Supplier Excellence Awards programme has gone from strength to strength, and the award ceremony is now firmly established as a ‘must do’ biennial event in the public procurement calendar.

We are delighted to announce that it’s time to celebrate again as the Supplier Excellence Awards are back for 2023!

The awards programme is the only one of its kind delivered by the Scottish public sector which focuses on suppliers. They give organisations of all shapes and sizes the invaluable opportunity to share their achievements across eight award categories and have them recognised by their peers and customers.

Ultimately, the Scotland Excel Supplier Excellence Awards recognise the innovation and excellence of suppliers and providers who go the extra mile to deliver tangible benefits to members of Scotland Excel and support the delivery of key public services.

The awards are open to current suppliers to Scotland Excel frameworks and entries must relate to goods or services supplied to Scotland Excel members through one or more of our frameworks between 01 April 2020 and 31 December 2022. For full Terms & Conditions see here.

The deadline for nominations is 28 February, and the winners will be revealed at a prestigious award ceremony and dinner on 11 May 2023 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow.

Community Benefits

This award recognises suppliers that have delivered measurable social, economic or environmental impact through community benefits on a Scotland Excel framework. Your entry must demonstrate how you have proactively worked with our members to identify and implement initiatives such as new jobs and apprenticeships, training and employability experience, local volunteering or charity donations that have created positive outcomes for communities.

Customer Relationships

Putting the customer first is the bedrock of many successful businesses, while a partnership approach can create mutually beneficial relationships between the public sector and suppliers which deliver better services and outcomes. This award will recognise suppliers that deliver a consistent approach to customer relationships which sets them apart from competitors. Your entry must evidence the benefits that your customer focus and/or partnership approach has delivered to Scotland Excel members through our frameworks.

Environmental Practices

Scotland has set an ambitious target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2045. Improving our natural and built environment for current and future generations helps us to achieve a ‘Greener Scotland’.  This award recognises suppliers that have achieved measurable environmental benefits on a Scotland Excel framework. Your entry must demonstrate how you have proactively improved your environmental practices by reducing your carbon footprint, implementing effective waste management, or introducing sustainable manufacturing processes.

Innovation

Innovation is critical to finding better ways to deliver public services and can be a key driver of business growth. This award recognises suppliers that have delivered measurable benefits through innovation on a Scotland Excel framework. Your entry must demonstrate how your innovative product, process or approach has delivered a step change in meeting the needs of the people who use public services and/or provided new and valuable benefits for our members.

Supply Chain Diversity

Progressive public procurement practices can play a significant role in local economic development and Community Wealth-building.  This award recognises suppliers that have taken proactive steps to develop an inclusive, sustainable and ethical supply chain that creates valuable jobs, encourages innovation, and brings measurable benefits to the communities in which they operate.

Small Business & Third Sector

Size or status needn’t be a barrier to participating in national frameworks, and this award recognises the success of small and third sector suppliers to Scotland Excel frameworks. Your entry must demonstrate how you have delivered measurable benefits in one or more of the following areas – community benefits, customer relationships, environmental practices, innovation, supply chain diversity, workforce development, or value for money.  This category is open to suppliers with fewer than 20 employees and a turnover of up to £10m, and third sector organisations including supported businesses.

Workforce Development

Good workforce practices help to drive continuous improvement and contribute to sustainable economic growth.  This award recognises suppliers to Scotland Excel frameworks which go above and beyond in valuing their staff and those within their supply chain. Your entry must demonstrate a sustained commitment and approach to supporting and developing your workforce, providing examples of initiatives undertaken and the benefits achieved. This category is open to suppliers paying the Real Living Wage to all employees.

Value for Money

Financial pressures have never been greater within the public sector.  This award recognises suppliers that have gone the extra mile to deliver value for money for one or more of our members on a Scotland Excel framework. Your entry must demonstrate how additional savings or efficiencies were delivered through specific actions taken to change practices and/or improve supply chains without impacting on quality.
