Congratulations to this year’s winners! Find out more via the ‘Winners’ tab below.

Scotland Excel has been at the forefront of public procurement for almost fifteen years, championing its power as an effective driver for local and national economic growth and wellbeing. Our services are designed to help our local authority and associate members deliver sustainable public services and realise a host of social, economic and environmental benefits for their communities.

In 2015, we launched the first-ever awards programme dedicated to celebrating the critical role that suppliers play in public procurement. Since then, the Scotland Excel Supplier Excellence Awards programme has gone from strength to strength, and the award ceremony is now firmly established as a ‘must do’ biennial event in the public procurement calendar.

As always, this year’s awards programme was the only one of its kind delivered by the Scottish public sector which focused on suppliers. They gave organisations of all shapes and sizes the invaluable opportunity to share their achievements across eight award categories and have them recognised by their peers and customers.

The Scotland Excel Supplier Excellence Awards 2023 once again recognised the innovation and excellence of suppliers and providers who went the extra mile to deliver tangible benefits to members of Scotland Excel and support the delivery of key public services.

Dougie Vipond

Presenter and live event host Dougie Vipond has fronted sport, travel and rural affairs programmes on television and radio. He has presented a range of sporting events including Scottish Cup Finals, International Rugby, Melrose 7s, World Championship Mountain Biking, Three Day Eventing and Bowls World Championship. He can also be seen covering Scotland’s nightly sports news on Reporting Scotland, he  presents  BBC Scotland’s sport news output on Sportscene & Reporting Scotland. He also works as a reporter on Radio Scotland’s nightly football magazine, 90 Minutes.

He also presents BBC Scotland’s The Adventure Show and the rural affairs series, Landward. He has also been a presenter on BBC1’s The Holiday Show, among others, and even stood in for Richard Madeley on ITV’s This Morning

His love of sport and getting his hands dirty, resulted in BBC Scotland commissioning an adventure sports series called Backcountry With Dougie Vipond in which Dougie presented and took part in a variety of outdoor sports and competitions.

In a past life, Dougie was founder member and drummer with the band Deacon Blue with whom he recorded and toured for eight years. He still plays with the band when commitments allow.

Over the years, Dougie has worked across many broadcast genres including six years reporting for BBC’s Holiday, Summer Holiday and Holidays Out programmes. He co-presented The Kirsty Wark Show and The Big Country, BBC Scotland’s guide to leisure activities north of the border and spent two weeks as guest presenter on ITV’s This Morning.

In addition to his work at the BBC, Dougie has presented live coverage of the World Bowls Championship for Eurosport.

His expertise in music has helped when presenting The Score for Channel 4, Och Around The Clock, a history of Jock n Roll and T in the Park for BBC Scotland.

Even though much of his time is taken up with Sports programmes these days, Dougie still finds time to branch out into other areas. He completed a second series of Take It From The Top, a features series for Radio Scotland.
